Springville Museum of Art's 38th Annual Quilt show.

Mark thankfully watched Brock last night so I could enjoy an easier night out with my Mom and sister Tammy. {Nicholas in tow but securely strapped in the stroller.}
My mom is such a talented quilter and I love the quilts she has made for me and my boys. I have yet to really get into quilting but have a few ideas in my head. My mom and Tammy also take a quilt class together so this was especially fun for them.

There was one wall that had small quilts each dedicated to one letter of the alphabet. The letter M was my favorite because of this:

And my favorite of them all entitled"  the Perfect Storm  by Anne Munoz  inspired by a  photo taken by the Hubble Telescope.  She started with white primatex fabric and batiked the image with wax and dyes. Removed the wax and then quilted to add the detail and texture.

A Snails Pace.

Today we've decided to take it easy. On our way back from lunch we found a snail and decided to explore.
 We talked about the snails' slimey trail.



Pointed out the snail's eyes and mouth.


Talked about his home/ shell.


And just watched.   

 

 

 Of course Brock and Nicholas wanted to share their find with Nan, but I knew better than to take such a fun creature into Nana's house. Snaily will be much more comfortable out in the flower beds.

 

Oh the joys of simple discoveries. If only more things could be discovered at a snails pace!

There are some moments.

you know those moments after watching the news on devastating storms whether it be tornadoes, hurricanes, tsunamis,etc. And you go on with your life. You run your errands and while out your see signs for "aide" give for those who lost.
It all becomes a little surreal when those signs become aid for your own community.While at Costco on Saturday I saw a few of those signs and my immediate thought went to those in Joplin. and then after exiting the store I thought wow that for us.
Last week a Tornado touched down in a few surrounding communities. One being near the chapel where we go to church. I had Ryszard drive me around a little bit after church on Sunday to see things up close. He pointed out buildings that had become piles of ruble, massive trees that were uprooted and laying on their side now being cleared away.

I personally was unaffected. But after our quick drive around taking a few pictures and Hearing the Testimony of a few members that LIVED through the sights and sounds of the Tornado and came out with stronger faith in God.  My heart is full.  I was sent messages on facebook , phone calls from friends and family asking if we were okay.
I am blessed.

Cutest Thing Ever

NO I'm not talking about my kids {shocking}
But I just have to tell you about the cutest thing I've ever heard.

The boys and I went over to my sister April's house this morning and spent sometime playing.
I told Riley to give Brock a big hug cause we would be going on a plane tomorrow and we wouldn't see him again for a long time. Riley then gave Brock and myself the sweetest hugs ever.
When April stopped by real quick before dinner tonight she told me about what Riley told his Daddy when he got home from work.
"Daddy, No Mas Brock"
If that's not the cutest thing ever, I don't know what is. My boys are gonna miss Riley and Tyler a lot. Even with their playful fighting They both loved having a buddy around to explore with.
I was also able to capture one of my favorite Utah sights:

I absolutely Love waking up in the morning and looking out my Mom's window to see such a beautiful site!

Doing GREAT!

Today I had a home visit from the Hospital. Sue {the nurse} came and wanted to check my vitals and such answer any questions I may have had and let me know about some things that might come up. The visit went great! I can't count how many times she was "knocking on wood" for me. It seems like every question she asked me I gave her the "perfect" answer. My blood pressure was a little high, but I was also keeping an eye and Brock and making sure he didn't get too wild. After laying down for a bit and rechecking it was normal. We went over may things and chatted a bit, {it was fun to be able to just chat away with someone.}
We also checked out Nicholas' vitals: great heart beat, and here's that shocker he's gained 6 ounces in 2 days. {When we left the hospital he was down to 7 lbs 15.5 ounces and he is back up to 8 lbs 5 ounces! {Generally it takes a baby up to 2 weeks to get back to their birth weight!} Definitely no problem feeding this boy. {I think all the sleeping is helping with that too!} His temperature was a little low, {but I'm thinking he may naturally have a lower temp because all my readings have been a bit low too} but I'll continue to monitor it and have the doctor double check it tomorrow! I also went this morning to get his billirubin level checked, it did go up a little but the number isn't super high and with him putting on weight and creating plenty of dirty diapers it';s not too much of a worry. We will continue with the billiblanket and go in again tomorrow for another blood test, and to see the pediatrician.
Although Brock never had to wear the billiblanket his level did stay the same for 3 days so I'm sure Nicholas is just following his brother's lead. Well I'm off to feed the little one while big boy is napping, and hopefully I will get a little nap in too, or at least put my feet up!

First Official Babysitter!

Today was the day. Brock had his first official babysitter. Now don't get me wrong it's not like I take Brock everywhere I go, but when I do things on my own without him, he is usually left with a family member. Today I had a few pregnancy related errand/ appointments that I felt were going to be just too much for Brock to handle and I'd be a bit frazzled trying to keep him happy and contained! Ryszard was busy with work, so I called up my friend Courtney a few days ago and she was very willing to help me out with watching Brock. Brock did very well and was very happy. I am so glad I was able to find someone close to home, that Brock knew and that I would feel comfortable leaving him with. Thanks again Courtney! As for Brock, I don't think he missed me one bit! He is currently trying to open Daddy's scripture case which is my cue to get off the computer and read to him.

Sid the Science Kid

Brock and I love to watch this show every morning during Breakfast.
You see I'm not a huge fan of TV for kids, but Brock needs a little bit of a distraction during his meals, otherwise he tends to just nibble and then wants to spend all day long snacking. So Sid makes Breakfast Time really easy!
Plus Sid has some great songs to share with us too! { I especially like the song that goes like this: "I Love my Mom. My Mom is cool, but now it's time for having fun at school!" It's too great not to love}

Just got back...

from a quick trip to the doctor's to check out Brock's cough. To tell you the truth I haven't been too worried about it, but Ryszard has, so to put him at ease I took Brock in. His overall heath is at 100% . he does have a little bit of a tight cough, and the Nurse Practitioner and I decided to try a little bit of Benadyl and a humidifier also a fun little trick I know about vapor rub on the bottom of his feet at night. Although I have been reluctant to test this one. Brock does wear a brace at night and using oils and creams on his feet are not suggested. {Due to a great chance of developing blisters, but hopefully if I only use a light amount and only on the bottome of his feet he'll be okay!}
We were able to weigh him really quick and he's gained almost a full pound this past month and now weighs 23 lbs and 13.5 oz! {we're nipping at cousin Riley's heels} :)

HAIR!

For those of you who wanted to see a pic of my new hair color {and the length for Karilyn, because I know she's curious!}
See I take horrible pictures! The first picture really showing the color best, and the second is for a reference as to the length! Anyway this is the longest my hair has ever been, {my hair is layered a little bit, but if you measure from the top of my head down to the hair ends it's 19 inches long!!!!!} I'm pretty proud of myself for not giving in to all those urges to cut it all off! {and believe me there have been a lot!

The Butterfly Project.

Just something I came across that I thought I would share:

1,500,000 children died in the Holocaust. In an effort to remember them, Holocaust Museum Houston is collecting 1.5 million handmade butterflies.

The butterflies will eventually comprise a breath-taking exhibition, currently scheduled for Spring 2012, for all to remember.

Please facilitate the "I Never Saw Another Butterfly" activity and create as many handmade arts-and-crafts butterflies as possible. This project may be completed by all ages as individuals or groups.

a.. Butterflies should be no larger than 8 inches by 10 inches.
b.. Butterflies may be of any medium the artist chooses, but two-dimensional submissions are preferred.
c.. Glitter should not be used.
d.. Food products (cereal, macaroni, candy, marshmallows or other perishables) also should not be used.
If possible, e-mail a photograph of your butterflies, to butterflyproject@hmh.org.

Please send or bring your butterflies to the Museum by June 30, 2011, with the following information included:

a.. Your name,
b.. Your organization or school,
c.. Your address,

I absolutely love! Scentsy Candles. I don't know how many of you have heard about them but they are wonderful! I think it is the hottest new thing in candles. They are a wickless candle so you don't ever have to worry about forgetting to blow out your candle. Which is GREAT! Instead of a wick they use super cute warmers. And they have a lot of scents to choose from and the scents smell sooooo good and the scent lasts long too!. Unlike a lot of candles now a days. Anyway, I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I think it is a great product for anyone interested in having a super good smelling house and for you go-getters out there it is a great business to join.
