Teething!

For months now, every time someone sees Brock with his hands in his mouth they say, "oh he must be teething." I of course know he's not. Brock's hands have been in or around his mouth since he was a month old.
So last week when we went for his 6 month checkup I asked the doctor to double check his gums to see if he was teething yet or not, {meanwhile already knowing the answer is no} and the doctor agreed with me that Brock wasn't quite teething yet. "His gums are hard, but you'll be able to feel those teeth trying to poke through"
Sunday I noticed a little line on Brock's lower gums. It looked like a thread so I tried to fish it out, but it wouldn't budge. Then yesterday morning Brock was a little fussy, which isn't normal for him, so I looked at his lower gums again and saw two little marks that looked like teeny, tiny threads. I again put my finger on his gums and rubbed a little but this time I felt little ridges!

His bottom teeth are in fact starting to poke through! So as of yesterday Brock is officially teething!
For the past few days Brock has been turning himself in circles while on his back. {It makes me feel like putting him back into his turtle costume from Halloween!} Today when I went to check on him during his morning nap I found him like this: Sideways in his crib, Just chillin'! What a funny boy! Brock has also tried a few new foods this week.

All Bundled Up!

Today we woke up to our first snow fall of the season!
So we got all bundled up and headed to church. Brock loves to look out the window at all the fun sights along the way. Brock is so well behaved in church and Ryszard has been watching him during the 2nd and 3rd hour so I can be in primary to lead the music, {which I have discovered is going to be a bit more of a challenge than I thought.}
I guess Brock finally got tired because this is how I found him when we got home!
{I thought he was a little too quiet!} I must admit my favorite part of watching Brock sleep is his cute, rosy, chubby cheeks.

Maybe Ryszard is Right...

Brock is definitely getting too big for his bouncer. I guess I just didn't want to believe that my little boy is growing up.

Happy Birthday Julie!

My beautiful sister Julie is celebrating her birthday today! This is a picture I took of Julie holding Brock back in September.
I loved how willing Julie was to hold Brock whenever he started to get a little fussy or bored. Julie you are a great Mom! Your girls are truly blessed to have you as their mommy! We hope you have a very Happy Birthday!

Quote of the week ~ Peace

My quote topic for the month of December is PEACE. To go along with the upcoming holiday, and the real reason for the Christmas season.

"Life often feels like a great pile of obligations, frustrations, and disappointments. But the Lord is there, always the same, His arms still outstretched. When we feel overwhelmed, we have to remember the peace He has spoken to us on previous occasions. His peace brings comfort and strength; the world cannot give that to us." "Our families need the peace of God in their lives, and if we can't or won't invite the Lord into our lives, then our families become a reflection of our own turmoil. Women are asked to be nurturers to their families, but we must also be firm; we must be the hard rock footings on which our homes can stand. Our families need us to speak peace to them. ~Kathleen H. Turning Our World...

But in a good way! Brock had his 6 month check up today and Yes!, He has reached that 20 pound mark already! Actually he is 20lbs 4.5 oz, a little over 27 inches long and is growing well. {between the 75th & 90th percentile}
Last night Brock had his first taste of Carrots! Ate them right up. What a good boy!

Toe Touch

For the past few weeks I have been helping Brock reach forward to touch his toes. He is always watching every ones feet and wanting to touch his own feet all the time. Last night I watched as Brock reached down grabbed his own foot and pulled it within inches of his mouth. {okay so maybe this skill isn't that advanced, but for my little boy who has been in a number of cast and a brace for most of his young lif, {due to his club foot} this is a great achievement! If only to me!}
